He played professionally on the ATP. He turned his professional tour experience into one of the most successful coaching practices in Southern California spanning over 25 years. His reputation as one of the most accomplished and knowledgeable teaching pros in the business is recognized around the world. He coached three Grand Slam champions players (8 pros in all including Davis and Fed Cup), and was named one of the top coaches in the world by Tennis Weekly Magazine in 1998. Donny has worked with 25 nationally ranked players and is sought by many more. He has been writing a book on sports psychology called “Turning Fear into Success for your Tennis”, endorsed by legendary tennis player Billy Jean King. Donny also has a thriving counseling practice for athletes focusing on the emotional and mental dynamics of sports including clients in the NFL, Olympics and professional tennis arena. Donny is presently coaching and competing in beach tennis and is ranked one of the top players in the world recently capturing the number one spot in the USA. Marty Solakas is co-founder of West Coast Beach Tennis. He has been playing the game of tennis for over 20 years and beach tennis since 2005. As a current player on tour, Marty has achieved a #1 ranking in the country and a top international player as well. Since its inception in the United States, Marty has been around beach tennis scene since the beginning, giving him the ability to have seen the sport grow and evolve into what it is now. Marty currently teaches hard-court tennis to many of Southern California’s top junior players as well as local Marine League players. Lucy Streeter part of the team at WCBT was a professional diver. She dove and performed throughtout the world on the springboard, platform, & the cliffs in Acapulco. She is still the current Guinness World Record holder for the highest dive ever by a woman at 120FT. set in Hong Kong in 1985. She played Marine League and got hooked into beach tennis through her friend and tennis coach Don Young. She loves to compete and loves all sports but became passionate about this one! If you try it you will know why! Lucy divides her time among family, church, teaching beach tennis, & instructing swimming. She is training as a professional beach tennis player, and a touring pro. She is currently ranked 4th in the US, and was runner-up in paddles with her partner Kristen Flagler at last year's National Championship in New York. Kristen Flagler part of the team at WCBT has been a tennis teaching professional at Peninsula Racquet Club for the past 20 years. She also owns and manages her own tennis pro shop. Kristen trains and competes alongside Lucy as her doubles partner on the professional beach tennis tour, and was winner of the 2009 Bermuda Tournment last year, and runner-up in paddle's at last years National Championship in New York. |
